Let the Rose-Beasley debate begin...

Hulk smash!

The NBA Summer league (a bastion of false hope and meaningless stat inflation) started this week, highlighted by the Heat pounding the Bulls 94-70 behind Beasley's 28 points in 24 minutes.

I am a staunch supporter of DRose and I believe the Bulls made the right decision to go with a talented leader at PG over another immature PF (we have plenty of those, although this guy can definitely score in the low post). No knock on Beasley- he's going to be great- but given all the information headed into the draft, the Bulls made the right pick and have enough talent to trade for a good scoring PF (much easier than trying to trade for an outstanding PG).

It's way too early to start second guessing our pick. "Oh wow, Beasley scored a lot of points on Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas in a completely meaningless game!" Forgive me for not slitting my wrists just yet. If anyone needs reassurance about the stupidity of this argument, take a look at the top 3 scorers from last years summer league: Marcus Banks (42ppg), Louis Williams (25.2ppg) and Von Wafer (24.2ppg). Not only are those a lot of points for 3 guys I've never heard of, but none of these guys went on to average more than half those numbers during the 08 season.

Here, just watch this soothing video and stop freaking out:

He only played in one game.

Why do you have to bring Van Wafer into this? (didnt he play for the Cubs in the late 80's?). Your DRose backing seems awfully suspicious..."Given all the information going into the draft, the bulls made the right pick". Yes, DRose is a very good player, and likely will be, but I think you're underestimating Beasley. He was a one-man wrecking crew on a team that wouldnt have won a handful of games without him. They were terrible. He beat Kansas by himself! In Beasley's first year in the NCAA's he averaged 26+ ppg and 12+ rpg. He was amazing. Rose on the other hand was solid 15 ppg, 4 rpg and 4apg. He was also likely the best player on his team. Memphis was a great team though and K-State was not. Beasley was often double and triple teamed while rose saw 1-on-1 conference USA coverage. Thats not Rose's fault but he didnt have the same weight to carry. I understand the Bulls need a PG, but what team doesnt need a great Power Forward. How many years in a row does a great PF or Center lead his team to a championship. Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan, Garnett...how many great PG's have led their team to a title in the last 20 years? Im not talking about a Point Forward like LeBron or Magic, I mean a true PG. Kidd? Nash? Bibby? Stockton? None of them. Having a solid PG is a good thing to have, but it wont bring you a championship. How many great big men are there in the NBA that arent 30+? Duncan is 32, Garnett is 32, Rasheed is 34. That leaves only the younger big men...who would you take over Beasley? Amare? Probably, but his knee is shot, Yao? Probably but he's nonstop injured...Boozer? maybe, David West? maybe, Gasol? maybe. There are maybe a handful of good but not great players left after the aging Duncan and Garnett. Now take Beasley. A big man who dominates down low, never had health issues, and can shoot the rock from anywhere on the court. He 's a 5-tool basketball player! Rose will be good and will lead his team to the playoffs, but he wont lead any team to a title, and Beasley will.

You are so fucking convincing, I hate you more than anyone I know.

Just leave us pathetic Bulls fans to hope and pray that THIS TIME, we didn't completely fuck up.

Thanks, muchos gracias.

Cocksucker.
